How we work

We believe we are stronger together.

As a network we share access to a wealth of knowledge, both technical and operational, building expertise and resilience across our members. Our members then play a leading role supporting movements and other organisations of persons with disabilities in their respective countries, working to improve services, hold our governments to account and deliver lasting change for children with disabilities.

Our network model

We have collaboratively developed a robust model to facilitate our joint working as a network. Watch the video below to find out more.

Where we work

We currently have members in seven countries across East and Southern Africa: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Over the next few years, we want to expand to other regions across Africa in order to be a fully representative African network. But it is our network members that will choose how and where we grow, maintaining a focus on identifying African organisations who specifically work for children with disabilities and see value in joining the network.

How we are funded

We have two international affiliates: Able Child in the UK and Able Child Africa in the US who support the network and its members. The network is always looking for new funders to support its activities or to fund individual members and their programmes in the countries where we work.
